As usual, the majority of the nation’s liberals continue to suffer from Trump Derangement Syndrome. No matter what he says or does, they’re absolutely sure that it’s going to lead to the end of the world.
Take the matter of North Korea, for example. Last year when Trump started talking tough with Kim Jong Un, they were sure it was going to bring about the end of the world. They started talking about invoking the 25th Amendment and questioning his sanity.
So now that Trump and Rocketman are going to enter into peace talks, they’re happy, right?
Not so much. Ever since then what have they been doing? Well, of course, they’ve hit the news shows again and are talking about how Trump isn’t equipped to carry out peace talks.
It’s because of this toxic atmosphere that former President Jimmy Carter’s words are welcomed and refreshing.
Former President Jimmy Carter said Sunday that “while I don’t agree with everything that President Trump has done, I think it’s good that he’s decided to go” meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.
“If we could avoid a nuclear confrontation with North Korea, that would be a wonderful achievement,” Carter, 93, told his Sunday school class at Maranatha Baptist Church in Plains. “It’s good we’re going to be talking to them.”
Thursday’s announcement that Trump would accept Kim’s invitation to meet has been controversial in some quarters. It was especially timely where Carter was concerned.
“I had made arrangements last week with the White House to have some experts come down and give me an up-to-date briefing on what’s going on concerning North Korea,” he said. “They came down the day that Kim Jong Un invited Trump to come over. So we had a lot to talk about.”
Make no mistake, we agree with Jimmy Carter on very few issues, but isn’t avoiding a nuclear conflict with a mad man one of them? I mean, I know the Dems couldn’t find anything to applaud during the State of the Union address, but isn’t this something we can all rally behind?
